Acting is living and behaving truthfully and fully under imaginary circumstances.
For over 20 years this definition of acting is what every student at the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre learns on day one, and is what guides them through their journey to “Get Outta Your Head.” Using his transformational Meisner-based technique, Matthew Corozine and the MCS coaches are committed to get you out of your old story, be in the moment, and create a new artistic future you may not even envision. By removing the wall that each of us built during childhood to survive in the world, we condition you to respond from your unique impulses and instincts. As Matthew teaches, “If you survived 7th grade, you can be an actor.”
With students ranging from beginners to Broadway veterans, the training at MCS starts for everyone at the same place: from where the actor is. We create a safe space dedicated to uncovering, elevating, and empowering the creative well-being of each actor by providing a personal curated experience where you will be attended to, you will be heard, and you will be seen.
MCS is a growing, inclusive community that celebrates the diversity of all our artists. With an expanding roster of professional artists currently working in theater, television, and film, MCS has also been the starting board for many to begin new careers in the arts – such as directors, writers, producers, casting directors, and more – and has been the home to many original works from our students and alumni. When Matthew created MCS he had a vision for a collaborative, expansive, and supportive artistic community for artists to build their craft with honor and integrity, and now with D.C., Miami, and our online classes, MCS continues to build that community to stretch beyond New York City, and to always be your artistic home away from home.
